Institutional Recertification

In order to ensure its continued certification to operate in Virginia, certain postsecondary institutions must complete an annual recertification. The annual recertification process requires certified postsecondary institutions to confirm and submit certain information electronically, as well as to submit certain documents by mail. All institutions should complete the training for the recertification system prior to using the system for the first time.

Recertification Process Timeline

  1. Primary Contact at institution receives Recertification Notification e-mail 60 days before Application Due Date.
  2. Institution has 60 days to submit completed Recertification Package, which includes the electronic and paper submissions.
  3. Within 45 days of receipt of completed Recertification Package, institution will receive new Certificate to Operate.
