A Day of Dialogue

Supporting High-Quality Teaching: A Day of Dialogue

Friday, June 7, 2019

9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Reynolds Community College Workforce Development & Conference Center
Richmond, Virginia

SCHEV invites faculty, staff and institutional leaders to register for our next "Day of Dialogue," focused on how to support faculty in enhancing their teaching practice. Participants in SCHEV's pilot Faculty Learning Communities initiative will share what they have learned through their work together over this academic year. Their experiences will serve as a springboard for deeper discussion of faculty engagement and possible models for giving instructors the time and space to learn about and/or experiment with different pedagogical approaches.

This program will not be about learning from the experts primarily. Rather, the goals are to (1) develop and strengthen relationships among people with a shared interest in this topic, and (2) tap into everyone's knowledge and experience to generate ideas about how SCHEV and institutions might work together to support high-quality teaching throughout the Commonwealth. Such an effort underscores the critical importance of creative, skilled and dedicated faculty, without whom Virginia would be unable to achieve the ambitious goals laid out in The Virginia Plan for Higher Education.

Participation is free and lunch will be provided. Space is limited, so sign up now! Registration closes on Friday, May 17.

This event is made possible in part by a grant from the Lumina Foundation.
