The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) approved this week the Virginia Tech School of Neuroscience, effective fall 2016.
To be housed in the Virginia Tech College of Science and headed by neuroscientist Harald Sontheimer, the school was approved in November 2015 by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.

The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia will hold meetings of its Executive, Resources and Planning, and Academic Affairs committees beginning at 1 p.m. at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) in Gloucester Point. Members will discuss proposed new programs at Virginia Tech (neuroscience) and George Mason University (master of laws). After the meeting, members will tour VIMS and have dinner at the College of William & Mary.
