Certified Campus Reopening Plans

In June 2020, Governor Northam issued Higher Education Reopening Guidance for Virginia institutions of higher education to provide plans for offering in-person instruction and reopening their campuses in the 2020-21 academic year. The criteria, developed in consultation with the Virginia Department of Health, concern measures relating to COVID-19 that institutions should take for promoting and fostering the health and safety of students, faculty, staff, and surrounding communities as equitably as possible.
SCHEV is tasked with certifying such plans. Institutions not planning to hold in-person instruction are not required to submit reopening plans to SCHEV.

Certification by SCHEV does not constitute "approval" of a plan, but rather that the 26 criteria have been addressed as outlined.

SCHEV will post plans to this website as they are reviewed and certified. Please note that if an institution changes its plan after certification, it must notify SCHEV; however, you may wish to visit your institution's specific website to see if their plans have changed.
