Student Resources

Virginia's higher-education system provides a wide range of resources for students and prospective students. On this page you will find a number of them listed below.

Accessibility and Disabilities

Accessibility and disability information and contacts for individual state-supported institutions can be found on the accessibility page. If you do not see your school of interest listed, please contact them directly.

Online Resources

Information on Virginia colleges and universities can be found on the Virginia Universities and Colleges page.

SCHEV is the agency designated by the U.S. Department of Education as the avenue of last resort for student complaints against institutions of higher education in Virginia. A student must complete the school's own complaints process prior to contacting SCHEV. Students should consult their school catalog or handbook to determine how to file a formal grievance with the school. If a student's formal appeal has been denied by the school, then he or she can submit a student complaint to SCHEV.

The transcript request form for closed institutions can be found on the transcript request page.

The Virginia Education Wizard offers a unique, interactive tool for selecting educational and career pathways.

1-2-3 Go! Virginia's Three Steps to College is a statewide program to prepare middle- and high-schoolers for college.

GEAR UP is a federally funded program that supports a specific group of students as they move through school. Virginia's GEAR-UP program is administered by SCHEV.

The Opportunities Preparing for College Guide and Workbook helps high school students choose the right college, understand admission requirements, identify types of financial aid and more.

SCHEV values honesty, quality, diversity, inclusion, growth-orientation, personal well-being, equity, transparency and accountability.
Through these values, we create a welcoming work environment that represents the best of who we are as an agency and as individuals.
