Online Resources

SCHEV is the agency designated by the U.S. Department of Education as the avenue of last resort for student complaints against institutions of higher education in Virginia. A student must complete the school's own complaints process prior to contacting SCHEV. Students should consult their school catalog or handbook to determine how to file a formal grievance with the school. If a student's formal appeal has been denied by the school, then they can submit a student complaint to SCHEV.

Level Up Virginia, our new website to help students and families prepare for education after high school. Visitors to the site can explore the different educational opportunities, learn how to pursue the path they choose and examine financing options.
GEAR UP is a federally funded program that supports a specific group of students as they move through school. Virginia's GEAR-UP program is administered by SCHEV.
